Celtic Cable Poncho Knitting Pattern
Instructions and photos for knitting this Celtic Cable Poncho with Hoodie. Wearing this Poncho is like wearing a cozy warm sweater blanket. The Poncho is not closed on the sides making it easy to slip on and go. It has a hood for those chilly breezy days.
Size:
Lightly Blocked Size: 35 inches across
Front: 32 Inches, Back: 34 Inches in length
If made using acrylic yarns it can be machine washed and dried, the more washing the softer and cozier it gets.
There are some photos included to help give a visual of the written instructions. There is no chart.
Supplies Needed:
• 1 pair of straight knitting needles size 11
• 1 pair of circular needles size 10
• Cable Needle
• Stitch Holder
• Stitch Markers
Yarn:
You’ll need your favorite 4-ply worsted weight yarn. In the photo used for this pattern the yarn used is:
• Red Heart Acrylic 4 ply – Turquoise – 1300 Yards or 1500 if made all one color.
• Value Ombres Acrylic 4 ply – Blue Purple Yellow Turquoise -150 Yards (optional – poncho can be one color)
This pattern is best suited to an advanced beginner/intermediate knitter, it has two different cable patterns and a diamond brocade pattern. The cables are not hard once you’ve done them a couple of times. If you haven’t done cables before, use some practice yarn and follow the pattern.
